The Feathers'n'Friends Cottage experience is a tranquil oasis located in the hinterlands of Port Douglas. This secluded property is surrounded by lush gardens and wildlife, just a stone's throw from the best of Far North Queensland's rainforests.

THE PROPERTY

Get off the grid and back to nature with the properties lush botanical gardens featuring native and exotic Palms, Cycads and Pandanus trees. In the early 1980s the property was known as 'Maria's Palmetum', a palm nursery with the reputation for once hosting the largest collection of exotic palm trees in Australia!

NATURE

The property boasts a large variety of native birds including seasonal Buff-Breasted Paradise Kingfishers, Olive-Backed Sunbirds, Parrots, and Brush Turkeys. Also local wildlife including Red-legged Pademelons, Agile Wallabies (rainforest Wallabies), Ulysses and Birdwing Butterflies, Reptiles, Amphibians like the White-lipped Tree-Frog and insects like the Rhinoceros Beetle .

Major attractions in the area include: 180 Million Year old Daintree Rainforest, Mossman Gorge and Mt Lewis National Park
The world's largest reef system Great Barrier Reef,
Iconic Bump Track hiking and bike trail,
Historic town of Mt Molloy,

Located on a 44-acre property just 90 minutes' drive from Cairn's airport. Featuring 4 bedrooms, lounge / dining area, satellite TV, fully equipped kitchen, gas BBQ (on the verandah), laundry and an undercover carport for 2 vehicles. The cottage is perfect for a romantic private getaway, or comfortably sleeps a family & friends of up to 7 guests.

GUEST ACCESS

Guests have access to the entire cottage. Surrounding the cottage, guests have access to gardens and rainforest at the back area of the property.
Your hosts live in a separate dwelling close to the entrance of the property.
Getting here, it's best to visit with a car, as there is no Public Transport in the area.

 

Other things to note

All water to the house is from a sustainable supply of year-round flowing clean drinkable bore water. Known locally as 'heritage water' this water has permeated down from the hinterlands to the Daintree Rainforest for tens of thousands of years.
Please note that the cottage is in a remote area with no WIFI and limited Telstra mobile coverage. There can also be occasional power outages.
This property is not suitable for children 12 years of age and under as there are two unfenced dams on the property.
Unfortunately guests are not permitted to bring pets onto the property - this is purely to protect and encourage the native wildlife.
The toilet is on a septic tank, so please follow the instructions placed in the toilet.
